A video featuring Tacoma firefighters lip synching the song “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities has made the semifinal round of “Good Morning America’s” 5 Alarm Firefighter Challenge.

Tacoma’s video will appear on the show Thursday (July 10), the city announced Wednesday. “Good Morning America” airs on ABC beginning at 7 a.m.

The contest was open to fire departments across the nation, and viewers can vote for their favorites. Those videos receiving the most votes will move into the final round, and three firefighters from those departments will travel to New York next week to compete in physical and knowledge-based competitions with a chance to win $10,000. Tacoma firefighters have suggested donating the money to charity should they make the finals and win.

“We saw it as a novel and entertaining way to remind ourselves and the public that our talented, engaged and diverse Tacoma firefighters are here to serve the community,” Fire Chief Jim Duggan said.
