Tacoma Fire Department - Local 31 - Station 12 Lip Sync Music Video "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities

Lip-synching Tacoma firefighters garnered enough votes on a “Good Morning America” contest to advance to the finals, the department announced Friday.

Three firefighters will go to New York next week to participate in a live challenge Monday to Wednesday. The winner, which receives $10,000, will be announced Wednesday.

Debbie Garrison, Kurt Gordon and Kris Hampton will represent the department in the 5 Alarm Firefighter Challenge, which will include a series of physical and knowledge-based activities on the show each day.

“Good Morning America” airs on ABC beginning at 7 a.m.

Tacoma was voted into the final round with a video showing firefighters lip synching the song “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities. They will be competing against Golf Shores Fire & Rescue in Florida and McAllen Fire Department in Texas.

Fire departments across the nation entered the contest and viewers voted for their favorite.

Tacoma firefighters have said they would like to donate the money to charity if they win.
