Men beaten to death in Frederickson-area home identified

Two men beaten to death in their Frederickson-area home have been identified as Michael Henderson, 20, and Joseph Moisa, 66.

Both men died of blunt force injury to the head, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Their roommate, Richard Earl Atkisson, is expected to be charged with the homicides Wednesday.

Atkisson is a fugitive sex offender from California. Moisa is a sex offender registered to live in Pierce County. The three men reportedly lived together for about a year.

A sheriff’s deputy found the bodies of Moisa and Henderson on Sunday after going to their home in the 7700 block of 200th Street East to verify that Moisa was living at the address.

Atkisson allegedly told investigators he used a pipe to beat his roommates because they were “grooming” boys for sex.

Sheriff’s detective Sgt. Jerry Bates said there is no evidence the men were doing that.
