Puyallup High’s lip dub video goes viral

It took nearly 2,000 people to pull off Puyallup High School’s 2016 Lip Dub. Essentially all of the 1,846 students and 128 staff members at the school were in the annual lip sync video, filmed and released Sept. 15, which follows a series of “singers” through the school’s halls, grounds and swimming pool. And nobody misbehaved.

Auburn Medical Center doctors working to unionize physicians

Washington State will have its first union for private physicians if doctors at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center vote this month to join the Union of American Physicians and Dentists. Some of the 170 physicians at the hospital have formed a bargaining unit and filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board. Voting is to begin Wednesday (Sept. 28.)

Minimum wage initiative goes a buck fifty too far

Washington Initiative 1433 and its proposed $13.50 minimum wage is an understandable attempt to address the bleak reality of U.S. wage inequality. But $12 would strike a better balance, as Tacoma accomplished when it settled on a phased-in $12 minimum.
