WHAT: The Big Weekend at Ocean Shores is loaded with activities, whether you prefer running or triathlons. The event has Olympic, sprint and half Ironman triathlons and a half-marathon (13.1 miles) and 10- and 5-kilometer runs (6.2 and 3.1 miles). An Olympic triathlon is 0.93 miles of swimming, followed by 24.8 miles of cycling and a 6.2-mile run. A sprint marathon is a half-mile swim, a 12.4-mile ride and a 3.1-mile run.
WHEN: Saturday and Sunday; registration starts at 5:30 a.m.
WHERE: North Bay Park, Ocean Shores
GETTING THERE: Entering Ocean Shores, turn left on Point Brown Avenue. Turn left on Albatross Street, and continue to North Bay Park.
COST: $35-155, depending on the event
ALSO: The Olympic triathlon starts at 7:30 a.m., the sprint triathlon is at 9:30, the half-marathon starts at noon and the shorter races start at 2 p.m. There will be a tri-for-kids race at 11:30 a.m.
