Recreational anglers will have two more days, Friday and Saturday, to fish for halibut in the waters off Ilwaco in southwest Washington.
The recreational halibut fishery in Marine Area 1 will be open from 12:01 a.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, according to a state Department of Fish and Wildlife news release.
Enough quota remains in the fishery to offer anglers two more days of fishing, said Heather Reed, the department’s coastal policy coordinator.
Recreational halibut fishing is closed in all other marine areas.
Reed reminded anglers that no other bottom fish may be taken, retained, possessed or landed – except sablefish and Pacific cod – if halibut are aboard the vessel.
More information on fishing regulations is available on the department’s Web site at wdfw.wa.gov/fish/regs/fishregs.htm.
