Many campgrounds, roads and trails in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest will be open for Memorial Day weekend.
Open campgrounds: Iron Creek, south of Randle; La Wis Wis, east of Packwood; North Fork, south of Randle; and Tower Rock, south of Randle.
A new group camp is now available for reservation as part of the La Wis Wis Campground. The Coho group camp can accommodate up to 25 people. Find more about this site at: www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation/campgrounds.
A limited number of trails are open and passable, including Bunker Hill Trail No. 145, Dog Mountain Trail No. 147, Falls Creek Falls Trail No. 152A and Hummocks Trail No. 229.
Travelers should drive cautiously on all forest roads and be prepared to encounter damage left from the winter. Check road conditions before going.
For details, call forest headquarters or one of the ranger district offices, or go to www.fs.fed.us/gpnf.
