The state Fish and Wildlife Commission is scheduled to vote on a new policy addressing conservation and recovery of wild salmon and steelhead populations.
The proposed policy calls for coordinated reform of the state’s approach to harvest management and its hatchery operations based on the recommendations of the Hatchery Scientific Review Group, said a news release.
The commission is scheduled Saturday to review progress in its search for a new director for the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Public comments on the search will be taken following that discussion.
Three new commission members – David Jennings of Olympia, Brad Smith of Bellingham and Rollie Schmitten of Lake Chelan – will attend their first meeting.
When: Starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Where: Room 172, Natural Resources Building, 1111 Washington St. S.E., Olympia.
The meeting agenda along with additional information, is available at wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings.html.
