• The Mount Rainier National Park Associates has a work party planned for July 18 to help a wildflower planting work party at Paradise. Because of construction in the area and early season snow last fall, park staff members were unable to get the plants in the ground. The season closed with 56,000 greenhouse plants remaining to be planted, said a park staff member.
The July 18 project will help complete the landscape work around the new Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center, which opened last October.
Volunteers will meet in the Paradise upper parking lot, near the visitors center, between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and will work until at least 3 p.m. Volunteers need to bring a sun hat, sun screen and rain gear. If you are interested in joining the associates, contact John Titland, the group’s volunteer coordinator, at volunteer@ mount-rainier.org.
