Session focuses on Dash Point, Saltwater parks’ futures

The News Tribune
A second workshop on the development of land-use plans for Dash Point and Saltwater state parks will be held Wednesday.

The public workshop will run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Mount Constance Room of Building 8 at Highline Community College, 2400 S. 240th St., Des Moines.

The focus of the session will be a review the comments from park users and community members made during the first stage of the process.

“Park users and community members have identified the need to address trail management issues, improving camping facilities and the preservation of each park’s natural and cultural resources,” Ryan Karlson, state parks planner, said in a news release. “We will we be seeking public participation and feedback on alternatives presented for each park.”

Information on the planning projects and a link to Dash Point and Saltwater state parks Web pages are available at www.parks.wa.gov/plans. The site includes information updates and meeting notices.

If you would like to be added to the mailing list, have copies of the alternatives report mailed to you or require special accommodations in order to attend the workshop, contact Karlson at 360-902-8650 or dashpoint.saltwater.planning@parks.wa.gov.

The State Parks and Recreation Commission wants to create plans for all 120 state parks in the system. Such plans will help State Parks preserve and protect lands while offering appropriate recreation opportunities for the public. So far, 42 parks have completed plans.
