When you look through “300 Tips to More Salmon and Steelhead,” it is exactly what the title says. And if you can’t find some useful information here, you know a whole lot more about salmon and steelhead fishing than the average Joe.

Author Scott Haugen has written numerous fishing books, and he gets straight to the secrets in this one. Some are common sense. (Tip 98: Have fun.) Others are more esoteric. (Tip 182: Wash your oar handles.) In case you’re curious, washing your oar handles removes bacteria, oils, grime and residues that can cause odor on your bait and repel fish.

Haugen is obviously a fishing fanatic, and among these tips there are many that will leave you saying “I never thought of that.”
