The Asia Pacific Cultural Center is presenting a one-day show, reception and sale of work by Portland-Vancouver, Wash., artist Chris McKinney on Dec. 1.

McKinney is a graduate of Washington State University and works in oils, focusing on Northwest landscapes. His art has been shown in Southern California and Washington and is represented by Art Events Northwest, North Bank Gallery and The Academy, Vancouver, Wash.

The Tacoma visit is part of a traveling show, which also will visit Seattle and Portland.

“I wanted to do this show in Tacoma because I heard about the burgeoning arts scene there,” says McKinney, who describes his paintings as “mostly large, Impressionist-style paintings with lots of bold color and texture.”

The December event is from 5 to 9 p.m. at the cultural center, 934 Broadway, Suite 5, Tacoma.
