ARCHITECTURE

Scott Waytashek recently joined BLRB Architects of Tacoma in construction administration. He will be responsible for specific project management and architectural responsibilities including marketing, programming, design, primary client contact, quality control, construction cost and total project cost budgeting, fee negotiation, professional and construction contract preparation, bidding, construction administration and contract closeout procedures. His experience includes more than 200 projects, primarily in education and health care, with a total project volume of over $750 million. Scott has worked with many separate state and local agencies in the successful completion of projects located within Washington and Oregon.

Ken Brouwers has also joined BLRB Architects as a construction manager and is working on a new classroom building at Puyallup High School. Brouwers received a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Michigan and has worked with all building types and methods of construction for over 30 years. His primary focus in the last 15 years has been in the educational and medical environments.

HEALTH CARE

The Federal Way Medical Center has announced the addition of Dr. Hong N. Nguyen, a family medicine physician. She has interests and training in internal and bariatric medicine, gynecology and women’s health, and pediatrics. Nguyen received a degree in medicine from Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherland Antilles, and completed her residency at the University of Missouri Research Medical Center in Kansas City. She is fluent in English and Vietnamese.

Dr. Andrew Baron is the primary care medical director for MultiCare Health System. He will oversee MultiCare-based primary care physicians at all hospital and clinic locations throughout Pierce and South King counties. Baron received his medical training at the University of Manitoba and practiced for nine years in Minnesota and North Dakota before receiving his MBA from Bellevue University. He is board-certified in family practice and joins MultiCare from Blue Cross of Idaho, where he served as medical programs director and director of quality.

Auburn/Federal Way Surgeons, a part of the Franciscan Medical Group, has announced the addition of Dr. Richard Gould as general surgeon. He specializes in thyroid, breast, thoracic, laparascopic, colon, rectal and trauma surgery. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Gould received a degree in medicine from the University of Washington in Seattle and completed a medical residency at the University of California, San Francisco-Fresno.

AWARDS/RECOGNITION

Gerri Craves, Tom Fitzsimmons and Laura Rehrmann are the new members of the board of directors for Independent Colleges of Washington.

Craves, of Redmond, is a member of the board of directors of the College Success Foundation and of the board of trustees of Gonzaga University. She practiced nursing at San Francisco Children’s Hospital for 15 years.

Fitzsimmons, of Olympia, is principal and chief operating officer at Lorig Associates LLC. He was previously chief of staff for Gov. Chris Gregoire and for former Gov. Gary Locke, and was director of the Washington State Department of Ecology. Fitzsimmons has 27 years of executive management experience in local and state government.

Rehrmann, of Seattle, is president and CEO of the Group Health Community Foundation and vice president for community responsibility for Group Health Cooperative. She has been with Group Health since 1997.

Julie McBride of MC Construction and Point Ruston was recently named the Built Green committee chairwoman for the Olympia Master Builders. She oversees the activities of the OMB Built Green committee in promoting environmentally sound building practices. She will serve as chairwoman through 2008.
