Best Buy playing with store credit for used games
Best Buy Co., the world’s largest electronics retailer, is testing the purchase and sale of used video games at stores in Dallas and Austin, Texas. The test begins this week, Barry Judge, Best Buy’s chief marketing officer, wrote Tuesday on his Web site. A kiosk scans games customers place inside to make sure they work and issues vouchers for store gift cards, Judge said.
Some kiosks also will let shoppers rent movies and video games, he wrote. Video-game sales fell 23 percent in May compared with the same period a year ago, to $863 million, according to NPD Group.
