Bellevue’s Expedia.com is extending its no- booking-fee policy to phone orders, the company announced this week.
Under the new policy, travelers who call the on-line travel agency won’t pay extra fees for booking flights, rental cars, hotels or cruises.
The new policy saves travelers, who prefer to book by phone, money that some airlines charge for phone reservations. Many air carriers charge $25 per ticket for phone reservations.
Expedia is closing its Tacoma phone reservations center by the end of this year and transferring that work to Las Vegas, where it has another reservations center. The company said the closure was designed to save the company money.
