The Northwest Steam Society will bring some of its steamboats to the Foss Waterway Seaport’s “All About Steam” event this weekend. The event also features the seaport’s steam exhibit.
Steamboat owners will share their craft with visitors, do demonstrations and explain how the boats work. Members of the steamboat group also will race on the Thea Foss Waterway (time to be scheduled).
Young visitors also will have the chance to buy a steamboat kit, build it and race it in a pond to be set up in the parking lot.
The steamboat event is free with paid museum admission. The cost is $8 for adults; $5 for children 5 and older, students, military and seniors (62 and older); free for seaport members and children younger than 5; a $20 for a family pass (up to two adults and four children).
Never miss a local story.
The event will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
