Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is ready to be the King of Slime.
TV network Nickelodeon announced Wednesday that Wilson will host the Kids’ Choice Sports show July 16. The show will be tape delayed on the West Coast for broadcast from 8-9:30 p.m.
It’s the second year for the event at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion that gathers athletes and celebrities to celebrate kids’ love of sports.
The show features performances, competitions and Nickelodeon’s signature: lots of slime.
“What an honor to be the king of slime for one crazy night. I had so much fun at the show last summer that I can’t wait to get back. What kid doesn’t want to get slimed? Count me in on that. I’m just a big kid at heart, so let the fun begin,” Wilson said in a press release.
At last year’s inaugural show, Wilson won the “Favorite Newcomer” award. Fellow Seahawk Marshawn Lynch went “Beast Mode” through a gauntlet and dove into a pool of slime. Earl Thomas got dunked in the green goo as well.
Not to be left out, the 12th Man was honored with the title of “Smells Like Team Spirit” — a reference to the 1990s born-in-Aberdeen grunge group Nirvana and their song “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
