Tacoma has beer.
Tacoma has boats.
Tacoma now has a new festival called Yachtoberfest, a celebration of Tacoma’s beer and boating life on the Foss Waterway.
The Oktoberfest-style event runs noon-6 p.m. Saturday behind the Museum of Glass. Just more than a dozen brewers will serve beer, and four restaurants are expected to serve German-themed food:
Never miss a local story.
Northwest Brewing: The Pacific brewery will serve its flagship IPA and mango weizen.
7 Seas: The Gig Harbor brewery will serve an autumn ale, brewed with German malts and hops, and an imperial oatmeal raisin stout.
Wingman: The Tacoma brewery will serve its Oktoberfest lager, a German-style marzen.
Paesan and Social: The Foss Waterway sibling restaurants will serve German-themed pizza and bratwurst.
Choripan: The Foss Waterway restaurant will serve bangers and mash, or brats braised in Engine House No. 9 amber beer and served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes.
Fleischkuechle: The Puyallup-based food truck will serve its usual menu of fried bacon, beef and other meat pies, a German hybrid pronounced flissh-koosh-lay. They’ll also serve their fried fruit fleischkuechle.
Food and drink will be individually priced. Admission will be $20 at the door, and the event is for attendees 21 and older only. Yachtoberfest is a fundraiser event for the Tacoma Waterfront Association.
