The annual national dining fundraiser Dining Out For Life is Thursday (April 30). The event raises money for AIDS service organizations and programs.
The Pierce County AIDS Foundation is sponsoring this year’s event. More than 50 restaurants from Tacoma to Olympia will donate. To participate, simply dine out at a participating restaurants. The restaurants donate varying percentages from the day’s proceeds. A few things to note:
Beer dinner: Gig Harbor’s 7 Seas Brewing will have a reservation-only beer pairing dinner from 7-9 p.m. at the taproom. Only 60 diners will be treated to dinner served by Jonz Catering (the outfit that recently moved into the former home of Porter’s Place on South Tacoma Way). The brewery announced it will donate 100 percent of the dinner’s proceeds to PCAF. Find the menu here. Warning: The dinner might already be fully booked.
Distillery: Gig Harbor’s Heritage Distilling also will donate to PCAF. It’s pledged 15 percent.
Never miss a local story.
Longtime participants: Of note is that Marzano Italian Restaurant in Parkland is one of just a few restaurants that has participated in the foundation event since its inception 21 years ago. Two other Tacoma restaurants, Antique Sandwich Company and La Fondita in Tacoma’s Proctor neighborhood, also have participated since the beginning.
Newcomer: Welcome Hilltop Kitchen. This is the first year for the restaurant and cocktail lounge that opened in 2013.
