An anonymous reader sent me a letter with a color printout of this photograph.
My unknown correspondent wrote:
"I just wanted to provide you with a look at the new T-shirts that were passed out to the staff at Varsity Grill recently. They were presented at a staff meeting, shortly after your review of the Varsity Grill was published. Employees were told not to wear these shirts in public. However, I was able to snap this pic at a recent outdoor event. ... I don't think this means you're a star..."

This may be related to my review of Varsity Grill.
I've e-mailed one of the grill's owners to verify whether the shirts were handed out to employees.
UPDATE Varsity's Grill's Jon Tartaglia e-mailed to say:
I can in fact confirm the authenticity of the T-shirt. After the
review you wrote for Varsity Grill, the staff needed some
encouragement. So we thought we'd add a little levity to the
situation by giving them a t-shirt with a message that many of them
were thinking. They were told not to tell people what it meant and I
have no doubt that the anonymous reader who sent it to you was a
