Harmon honcho Pat Nagle e-mailed an update on plans for a brewery, restaurant and movie theater in downtown Tacoma's old Mecca Theater space.
He said he's still figuring out kitchen plans and said it's too early for menu specifics. But he offered these thoughts:
We have identified the concept but are still working on the menu and the overall business model.
We really like the concept of a movie theater and restaurant where you can bring your dinner and beverage into the movie theater.
We want to be part of the "new look" on Broadway in Tacoma. Of course the menu and food will be important, but I believe we can keep the menu small, reduce our capital outlay in the kitchen and focus on the bar, brewery, theater and overall ambiance.
The food will be high quality but we are not focusing on being the next "grill" downtown.
By "bring your dinner," I assume Nagle isn't referring to schlepping your own bucket of KFC downtown. It's also nice to hear people thinking small for a change.
Never miss a local story.
By the way, The Harmon begins its 10th year in business this month. They've recently refinished the pub's 100-year-old fir floors and plan to install two new plasma TVs in time for NFL and college football. The menu's got a new look, too. I'll check it out and report back.
