The proprietor of Proctor's Rosewood Cafe is still planning a pub. Just not at South Union and South 13th.
"We have pulled out of the project on 13th and Union," Barry Watson said. "Unfortunately, the sub-divided space was just not going to meet our needs for the long haul. It was a very difficult and disappointing decision. We are very actively seeking a new location for the pub."
Need space, Barry? There's plenty in the former Columbia/Heidelberg brewery on C Street. But I digress...
My real plea today is this: Restaurant people, please share the problems you encountered in bringing your businesses to life. Construction foul-ups. Bummed-out bureaucracy trips. Investors from hell.
Come to Oprah.
Tell me why you still don't have a real sign on the front of your up-and-coming bistro.
Tell me why food expansion plans in your hipster cocktail lounge are dragging on like an after-hours hangover.
Tell me what a $2.5 million Tacoma small-plates wine bar might have been like.
Tell me what you said when you screamed at the gods in frustration, anger and love -- even before you served your first customer.
