I don't normally post press releases here at Ed's Diner, but because this one sounds so rarified, I relent. Besides, the Seattle chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International promotes culinary scholarships for women, and sustainability.
Auction items for the biennial auction of the Seattle Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International have come in at an unprecedented rate, and the scope and range of auction lots unique to this auction is truly amazing. The festive five-course dinner and fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at the Women's University Club, 1105 Sixth Avenue, Seattle, Wash.
High bidders at the 2007 Auction might enjoy everything from their own signature cocktail created by Dame Kathy Casey to a brewmaster's dinner for 10 offered by Dame Rose Ann Finkel and husband Charles, founders and owners of the Pike Pub & Brewery.
Six lucky people will be among the first to sample recipes from the upcoming Les Dames d'Escoffier International Cookbook. The book, to be published by Sasquatch Books in 2008, is edited by Seattle Dame Marcella Rosene, best-selling cookbook author and founder of Pasta & Co. Rosene and her husband will host the winning bidders at their swank Belltown loft and sample recipes from the cookbook, which were submitted by Dames members from around the United States and Canada.
Dame Patrice Benson, president of the Puget Sound Mycological Society, has organized a wild mushroom hunt followed by a gourmet picnic lunch created by famed Herbfarm chef Jerry Traunfeld. Cinnamon and brunch lovers will appreciate Dame Jerilyn Brusseau, creator of the Cinnabon, and Dame Lisa Dupar's auction entry: Brusseau's global cinnamon tasting, followed by Champagne brunch for 10 at Dupar's Pomegranate Bistro in Redmond.
Travel lovers at the Dames 2007 Auction will enjoy the opportunity to bid on gourmet vacation getaways to Vancouver, B.C.; Portland, Ore.; Maui, HI; and Tuscany, Italy. Wine aficionados will appreciate a multi-course dinner and wine pairing at Col Solare, Chateau Ste. Michelle and Marchesi Antonori's collaborative project on Washington's exclusive Red Mountain; an Eastern Washington wine tour for six; and the "Stellar Cellar," a collection of several cases of extraordinary wines donated by members of Les Dames, Seattle.
Tickets for the auction, which begin at $125 per person, are available online.
