A new Nordstrom isn't the only Seattle-identified thing in store for Tacoma Mall. Mall general manager Steven Heim tells News Tribune business reporter Devona Wells that new restaurants -- the kind you find in Seattle, and not just Ivar's -- are coming to the mall.
"We're going to add two full-service, sit-down restaurants," Heim said. "We're going to recruit the names that get people excited, names people are driving to Seattle to find, names that will mean something to our community."
Look for the new restaurants some time in 2008. Look for an announcement when the mall has signed contracts. "There's a lot of negotiating going on right now," Heim said.
Steven, here are my choices for restaurants that I'd spend my own gas money driving to Seattle for and which would lure me to Tacoma Mall for the first time:
Never miss a local story.
Tom Douglas' Serious Pie.
Anyone else care to add to the list?
By the way, I've pitched a new feature to my editor: Worth the Drive, in which I'd write about new Seattle restaurants that are worth the drive. Seattle recommendations, anyone?
