Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is proud to have polar bears Blizzard, Glacier, Kenneth and Boris back on display. But the Tacoma zoo is really eager to show off its newest human quarry -- an executive chef with a culinary school pedigree.
"We're doing this because we have for the first time an executive chef heading up our food service operations, and we'd like to put the focus on him and our catering service," said Carolyn Cox, the zoo's PR coordinator.
Reed, a graduate of Rhode Island's Johnson & Wales University, has previously cheffed at senior living facilities and Seattle-based RealNetworks. His Easter brunch menu will feature hand-carved baron of beef and honey-glazed ham, fresh poached salmon, a pasta station, plus salads, desserts and a chocolate fountain.
There will be banquet seating for 150 people in the zoo's new education center, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Prices are $28 for adults, $15 for kids ages 6-12 and $5 for kids under 5. Reservations are required by March 31. Call 253-404-3822.
