UPDATED June 24: Barry Watson sent this e-mail:
Hi Ed, I'm back out of the hospital and am feeling ton better with each
passing day. I guess the positive about having a heart attack at 35 years
old is recovery seems to be a bit easier than some one twice my age (when
your supposed to have them:).
Thanks for posting my update on the blog. It helped inform some of the
customers, family and friends that the "phone tree" had not quite reached.
Barry Watson, proprietor of Rosewood Cafe in Tacoma's Proctor neighborhood, suffered heart attacks last week. He's scheduled for quadruple by-pass surgery on Tuesday. Here's what he said in an e-mail:
On Wednesday June 6th I suffered a small heart attack while at work. I started feeling suddenly ill, but no pain at all. I had Renee pick me up and take me to the doctor. Upon arriving I had what was probably another. I was rushed to Tacoma General and started to receive treatment in the ER, before being admitted as a cardiac patient. Over the course of Thursday and Friday I received an unbelievable amount of tests and treatments.
I am scheduled for a quadruple by-pass surgery on Tuesday. I should only be in the hospital for another week after surgery, and then I'll be recovering at home for a month or so after that.
Thanks to everyone who has already contacted us with good thoughts and offers of help. A special thanks to my staff (family) at the Rosewood and my wife Renee for instantly stepping up and banding together to keep us going strong.
The Rosewood will remain open in my absence. However, we may run a slightly
revised/reduced schedule for the next month or so.
Thanks, think good thoughts.
