Min Xie, Mingin Xie, Minjie Xie, owners of Tacoma Szechuan, are from China's Szechuan province, which is grappling with the aftermath of a massive earthquake this month. The sisters are raising money to help people back home.
Here's a letter they've included in their menus:
As many of you know, we are from Szechuan Province, where the 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck with such devastation in China. More than 34,000 have died, many thousands injured and over a million left hungry, without homes or hope. Friends want to contribute.
Here's how we're helping.
We have joined with the University Place Sister Cities Association, which has a Sister City relationship with the Szechuan city of Jiang You, China. Together we are collecting donations to be taken directly to Jiang You to help immediately. Unable to go to China, we ask your help.
We are accepting donations made in cash or check made payable to: University Place Sister Cities Association – China Relief. An account has been opened, and contributions accepted at any Wells Fargo Bank branch in the account name of University Place Sister Cities Association for China Earthquake Relief Fund. All donations are tax deductible. Bring or mail them to our restaurant.
If you have questions, or wish to help in other ways, contact Ron Chow (UP Sister Cities board member) at 253-640-7601. Thank you for your understanding, compassion and generous contribution.
