Spotted in downtown Tacoma - two food trucks at the old post office building.
Bella Amore, a new Tacoma truck featuring meatball and sausage sandwiches for $4.99, is serving alongside Gibson’s, the frozen yogurt truck that is the mobile offspring of the Gibson’s yogurt cafes in Westgate and Stadium.
Find the pair parked adjacent to the historic downtown post office building, near 12th and A Streets (a block off Pacific Avenue). Gibson’s intends to serve this Wednesday and Friday, then the truck needs to go into the shop for repairs. Bella Amore will be at the building from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays-Fridays. The sandwich truck announced it will serve at a second location near Temple Theater in the St. Helens neighborhood. Check Bella Amore's Facebook page for schedule updates.
Bella Amore's meatball sandwich ($4.99) came with three meatballs tucked into a toasted roll and slathered with good ol' red sauce. I paid an extra buck for grilled peppers and onions. Italian sausage sandwiches (hot or sweet) and caprese sandwiches also are $4.99. Pasta or salad are $3.99 each. Note: The truck is cash only.
Jay Dogs update: The mobile hot dog cart Jay Dogs had been serving this summer at the Post Office building, but now has a new location. Find the cart every Friday night at Narrows Brewing, the newly opened brewery adjacent to Boathouse 19.
