The taproom is big and interesting. Communal seating along rows of high-top tables. Check out the herd of wood-carved animals. About a dozen beers on tap at all times. If the Black Stag Stout is on, get it. No restaurant on site, but Wally's Drive-In is nearby with fish and chips, burgers and fries.
Harmon TaproomWhere: 204 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma; 253-212-2725, theharmontaproom.comHours: Open dailyThe working brewery for the Harmon chain has an on-view brewing area and a menu of pizza and pub grub. Upstairs is its sister restaurant, The Hub (which also has an outpost in Gig Harbor). This is the sibling establishment to the Harmon Pub in downtown Tacoma on Pacific Avenue. If you're looking for all-inclusive suds and dining in Tacoma - this is the place to go. Also, check out the beer cocktail menu at the Taproom.

If you see the ginger brew - get it. No restaurant, but a trip there means you have to eat at Brank's BBQ beforehand.

He expanded his menu recently and makes outstanding hot dogs. Don't miss the daily specials list.
Station U-BrewWhere: 211 W. Stewart, Puyallup; 253-466-3721Hours: Open Tuesday-SundaySteve Samples not only brews his own assortment of beers, but you can bring your own recipe to the brew-your-own stop. No restaurant on site, but Crockett's Public House is nearby and so is Bourbon Street Bar and Grill, the region's only Cajun restaurant.
Tacoma Brewing Co.Where: 625 St. Helens, Tacoma; 253-242-3370, tacomabrewing.comOwner Morgan Alexander plays with big flavors at his nano brewery, which has a constantly changing tap list. No restaurant on site, but Puget Sound Pizza is next door.
Wingman BrewersWhere: 509 1/2 Puyallup Ave., Tacoma; 253-651-4832, wingmanbrewers.comHours: Open Thursday-Sunday (they just started opening on Sundays)Find vintage video games, plenty of standing room and a few counters for seating - in an industrial neighborhood in Tacoma. Don't miss the P-51 porter, Ace IPA and if they have it - The Stratofortress, a Belgian strong ale aged on cedar planks soaked with dark rum. No dining on site, but occasionally they'll have food trucks outside. Great dining nearby can be found at Ammar's Mediterranean Grill.
Dad's favorite treat - meatBlue Max Meats
in the Canyon-Summit neighborhood gained national fame in January for itsBeast Mode Skittles Sausage
(tastes better than you think it would ). I shop there near weekly, so I can tick off a list of what I love about Blue Max from memory: Ground chuck, great steaks, house-smoked sausage, beef jerky and pepperoni. It's one of few places that always has landjaeger - and they make it right there. Get yourself there to pick out a steak for you and dad. Find info on the butcherhere
The meat counter at the back of Hess Bakery & Deli, Lakewood's German deli that's next door to the German Pastry Shop, is a dream for dad shopping. Cold cuts aplenty, plus landjaeger. Did I mention the cooler of German beer? It's worth a visit just for the house-baked pretzels. More information here.
