As a paid belly for this newspaper, I’ve spent countless hours traversing every pocket of Pierce County sniffing out, hunting down and what can loosely be described as “stalking” food trucks.
That’s a lot of driving – and eating.
Here’s an event that will make it much easier for diners – and this restaurant critic – to test as many food trucks as one could possibly stomach in a single day: Food Truck Fest at Wright Park. The event, from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, will have a dozen food trucks from Pierce County and six from the Seattle area.
Organizer Phedra Redifer of MetroParks considers it an opportunity for local eaters to check out what’s new in Pierce County’s food truck world. She’s booked several new trucks that locals probably have not yet encountered. Here’s a look at those new trucks, plus other trucks that will be serving Sunday:
New trucks to check out
This truck has found a home every Wednesday and Friday at downtown Tacoma’s Old Post Office building, serving Greek sandwiches and portable Greek eats. It comes from longtime Tacoma restaurant owner Jim Wick, founder of It’s Greek To Me.Mobile Food Command Center:
The newest venture from X Group Restaurants (which owns Asado, Masa and Engine House No. 9) is a former command unit for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. Find tacos, bacon-wrapped hot dogs and other Mexican street eats.Lizzie Lou’s Comfort Food:
This truck is an outpost of the lunch counter that operates inside Destination Harley. Find fusion soul food at this truck.

This truck is known for doling out huge cake slices, so get in line early. The truck is an outpost of the popular Celebrity Cake Studio bakery near the Tacoma Dome.Budha Bear Bagel Truck:
