The country music and dancing nightclub Big Whisky Saloon will duplicate itself again.
This time, it’s coming to Puyallup at 1200 Fourth St. NW. Expect an opening sometime this fall.
The club is under construction in a space formerly occupied by a church. Neighboring businesses include Goodwill and Loose Wheel sports bar.
In Olympia, Big Whisky is known for its focus on free line dancing lessons and country rock music videos that are broadcast across multiple screens. Expect the same theme in Puyallup.
Tacoma residents might recall when a Big Whisky operated in downtown Tacoma, where 502 Downtown now operates. The Tacoma Big Whisky was operated by several business partners, one of whom was Roger Rahill, who is now the current owner of the Olympia Big Whisky with business partner Todd Ruzicka.
The duo will also own the Puyallup country music nightclub together. Rahill’s wife, Kathleen, also is a partner in the business.
Rahill, a Puyallup resident, considered locations from here to Everett, but he said in a phone interview that the Puyallup building had every element he wanted for his next location.
The 8,500-square-foot space will operate evenings only, most likely Thursdays through Sundays. There will be no kitchen or food offered. There's an outdoor patio space totaling about 1,700 square feet.
Rahill said he focuses on creating a friendly environment for dancers of all ages. “Our demographic is 21 to 60. It’s a great mix of people,” Rahill said.
