The Washington state high-school golf tournaments concluded Wednesday around the state, and there was a lot of action involving some Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula residents.

It was another memorable night for water polo fans at the Curtis High School pool in University Place, as fans of the Gig Harbor Tides and Curtis Vikings programs filled the stands and lustily made noise as their teams battled for state championship.

A sparse but enthusiastic crowd came to Roy Anderson Field last night to watch the Peninsula Seahawks' final home soccer match, and say goodbye to six senior players.

The Gig Harbor High School fastpitch team is winning a lot in 2012, and its success continued Wednesday afternoon with a blowout victory over the Mount Tahoma Thunderbirds.
