Fifth-graders from Harbor Heights Elementary School jogged four laps around the track at nearby Goodman Middle School last Wednesday morning as part of the weeklong American Running Association's National Run a Mile Days.

Science fair project attempts to slow effects of erosion

Sky Bressette, a seventh-grader at Key Peninsula Middle School, placed first in his category at the state Science and Engineering Fair on March 31. His experiment about types of plants in sod and how well they protected a hillside from erosion was inspired when he saw erosion along the Key Peninsula Highway. He chose his experiment to discover how to slow down the erosion.

Fifth-graders from Harbor Heights Elementary School jogged four laps around the track at nearby Goodman Middle School Wednesday morning as part of the week-long American Running Association’s National Run a Mile Days. Elementary schools within the Peninsula School District represent the lone participants from Washington state, and make up the largest group in the country taking part in the event.
