Annual mock DUI fatality drill hopes to curb teen drinking and driving

Published: 05/17/13 10:53:37

Student actors portray high school seniors coping with the tragedy after a mock DUI demonstration crash Friday morning at Gig Harbor High school.

The annual drill highlights the perils of drinking and driving by graphically showing a mock fatality accident, and the subsequent fire and police department response to the tragedy. Event organizers have high school students nearby to watch the drama unfold, with the hope that when bad decisions are made on prom night, or after graduation parties take place, drinking and driving will be curbed, preventing a real tragedy from occurring.
