Port Angeles, WA – Nine wineries located between Chimacum and Port Angeles will partner with local cheese-makers to create unique pairings that exemplify the flavors of the region Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wine specials will be available throughout the weekend.
“Our regional cheese-makers are producing some fantastic goat, sheep and cow milk cheeses that pair exceptionally well with our new wine releases,” says Vicki Corson, president of the Olympic Peninsula Wineries Association. “We invite wine lovers from around the Sound to come and discover some new favorites.”
Advance tickets for the self-guided tour are available online for $30.00, and include wine and cheese tasting at all nine wineries plus a commemorative wine glass. Highlights from this year’s tour include:
Seasonal Honey Meadow Cider and new release 2014 Finnriver Fire Barrel Cider will be paired with sheep’s milk cheeses from Glendale Shepherd Dairy of Whidbey Island and shortbread by Anca’s Pastries. Sunday kicks-off the Woodfire Pizza series, “posse of piglets” at Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Chimacum.
New release Gray Cat Oregon Pinot Gris, Come Home Riesling and Yellow Truck Apple Wine, made with apples grown on Marrowstone Island, will be paired with a variety of goat cheeses by Mystery Bay Farm at
