It’s good to call these dairies in advance, even if they are scheduled to be open, as farm life is often unpredictable. You can also do the tour in reverse order. For more local cheesemakers, see washingtonartisan
WILLAPA HILLS CREAMERY
BLACK SHEEP CREAMERY
Load up on cheeses (remember to bring your cooler and picnic set) at the dairies, then pass through historic downtown Chehalis for some bakery-made sourdough-semolina bread at the Market Street café. If the weather holds, you can eat al fresco on benches by the fountain outside the library, one block south. Otherwise, the café offers homemade soups, fresh panini sandwiches, yummy baked goods (try the cannoli), and coffee.
