An all-Boeing charter airline, Neos, will become the first Italian operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner when it accepts delivery of two Dreamliners in 2018.
Neos announced Tuesday it has leased two of the composite-bodied airliners from International Lease Finance Corp. The airline already operates Boeing six Boeing 737-800 aircraft and two Boeing 767-300ER widebodies.
Neos will use the long range planes to expand its network and to cut its average fuel costs. The plane is about 20 per cent more fuel-efficient than the same-size 767-300ER.
ILFC is the world's largest customer for the 787. It has 74 of the planes on order.
The planes are built in Boeing's Everett wide-bodied assembly plant and in the company's new 787 factory in North Charleston, South Carolina.
