American veterans seeking employment will get a chance to hone their skills and meet employers on Friday Sept. 5 at the Hire America’s Heroes 2014 Career Day at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center.
The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs through 2 p.m. Online registration has closed, but organizers say walk-in registration will be available.
Along with employers including Boeing, Starbucks, Amazon and Microsoft, career coaches with a military background will be available for consultation.
Workshops at the career fair will include presentations concerning:

• “Maximizing the Job Fair Experience,” a complimentary pre-fair gathering at 9:15 a.m. Friday;
• “Personal Branding,” which will discuss personal marketing, including the value of showcasing talents and experience;
• “Interview Workshop,” which will offer tips on exploring careers, defining goals, expanding professional networks and building confidence for interviews;
• “LinkedIn Basics and Beyond,” which will present on the effective use of social media.
