DaVita Healthcare Partners, a Denver-based company with major business offices in the South Sound, announced this week its partnership with a major hospital company in Colorado.
The venture with Centura Health is the latest move by DaVita to move from being a kidney dialysis company into one that works on overall health. DaVita began its work in primary care in 2012, when its subsidiary Paladina Health opened its first clinic in Tacoma, on Pacific Avenue. DaVita also has bought several large doctors’ offices across the country.
The Centura Health partnership won’t immediately result in more jobs for DaVita’s South Sound operations, spokesman David Tauchen said Wednesday. The company employs some 600 people in Tacoma and several hundred more in Federal Way.
“There are no new jobs yet, but it bodes well for Tacoma’s office since it’s such an important office for us,” Tauchen said.
DaVita operates 2,152 dialysis centers in the U.S. and 87 abroad. Paladina operates two clinics in Washington – Tacoma and Federal Way – and about 30 more nationwide.
