People who are struggling to make their mortgage payment, or who already are behind, are invited to a free event Dec. 6 in Steilacoom.
Several of the country’s largest mortgage servicers and housing counselors will be on hand to help with homeowners, one on one.
The HOPE NOW Alliance is holding the event, where homeowners can review options and learn about alternatives to foreclosure. People who want to refinance also can attend.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Steilacoom Community Center, 2301 Worthington St. Parking is free.
Homeowners will be seen on a first come, first-served basis and are encouraged to bring all mortgage documents, income documents, and hardship letters, according to a news release. A full list of documents, along with event details, is available at www.hopenow.com.
Service members, veterans and civilian base employees also are encouraged to attend.
Representatives of many of the nation’s top mortgage companies will be there, including Bank of America, Citi Mortgage, Nationstar, Ocwen, Select Portfolio Servicing, Seterus, US Bank and Wells Fargo. Representatives from Fannie Mae and several local, nonprofit counseling agencies will be there, too.
