Tacoma looks to have been eliminated from Lyft company map showing which areas the ride-sharing service serves.
Lift spokeswoman Katie Dally stated Tuesday, “Lyft paused pickups in Tacoma on December 1. The city council passed regulations that would have required duplicative individual licenses within the same coverage area, a burden for drivers who service the greater Seattle area. In the meantime, Lyft drivers will continue to serve the greater Seattle region including dropping off passengers in Tacoma.”
The News Tribune spoke with a Lyft driver to confirm that the company no longer takes customers from the City of Destiny.
Former Lyft (and current Uber) driver Mike Grimm reported Tuesday that Lyft “did stop pickups only in Tacoma and Lakewood.”
Grimm said he received news of Lyft’s withdrawal in an email from the company last week.
