If you find your ambitions drifting toward maritime trade management, Pacific Lutheran University is now able to help you set a direct course.
The Parkland school will introduce a non-credit Certificate in Maritime Management beginning in January.
The program “is a result in recent growth in shipping and logistics, as well as the maritime industry’s high demand for trained management professionals and the need for leaders at the Port of Tacoma to identify and recruit such employees,” the school said in a release this week.
Participants in the course “will examine the strategic role of managers in maritime activity and business” and will address content including shipping and transportation, law and regulation and operations on vessels and at terminals.
Presenters will include Mark Miller from MacMillan-Piper; Anna Sonderstrom from Washington United Terminals and Hyundai Merchant Marine; Steven Block from Foster Pepper PLLC; and Greg Shelton from Shelton International.
The cost of the course is $770 and participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the conclusion of the course. Registration opened Nov. 2. For more information visit plu.edu/continuing-ed.
