Pierce and Thurston counties saw a small uptick in their unemployment rates for June, according to the state’s Employment Security Department.
Pierce County’s unemployment rate for June was 6.5 percent, up from May’s rate of 6.1 percent, while Thurston County’s was 6.1 percent, up from May’s 5.7 percent. The county rates are not seasonally adjusted.
Statewide, June’s unemployment rate was 5.8 percent, unchanged from May. The state lost 500 jobs in June, according to the ESD. Nationwide for June, the jobless rate was 4.9 percent.
