TACOMA: Police lay down spike strip to halt suspects in stabbing
THE NEWS TRIBUNE
Published: October 11th, 2008 12:30 AM
Tacoma police used spike strips and a K-9 unit late Thursday to apprehend three suspects in a stabbing near Les Davis Pier.

The victims, two men, were hanging out near the pier when three other men approached and began “talking trash,” police said Friday.

One of the three men stabbed one of the victims. The other victim, not seeing the knife and thinking his friend had been punched, tried to break up the fight and was cut on the neck, police said.

The three men fled but police traced their car to a restaurant on Ruston Way. The suspects refused to stop and fled, police said. The pursuit reached speeds of 80 miles per hour. Police used a spike strip to blow one of the fleeing vehicle’s tires.

The three men were booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault. The stabbing victim was seriously wounded, but police said the injury was not life-threatening.
