Police investigators were looking for an infant’s body in two large garbage containers Sunday night in Graham.
A 16-year-old girl and her father were arrested Friday by police in Port Angeles in connection with the possible death of the girl’s newborn baby.
The teenage girl was arrested for investigation of first-degree murder. Her 41-year-old father was arrested for investigation of concealing a birth by disposing of the body of the newborn in a city garbage container behind their home in Port Angeles.
The garbage was collected, and was being sent by train to Oregon when police stepped in and took the containers to a Waste Management facility in the Port of Tacoma.
Tacoma police oversaw the removal of the containers, and Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said the department has offered help to Port Angeles investigators.
“We’re going to do whatever we can do to help Port Angeles,” Fulghum said.
The garbage containers that may contain an infant’s body left Tacoma on Sunday morning and were taken to Graham for further investigation.
