Puyallup police were searching for a man who robbed a bank branch Thursday near the South Hill Mall.
The robbery occurred about 10:15 a.m. at Wells Fargo, 431 39th Ave. S.W. The bandit used a robbery note and implied he had a weapon, said Puyallup police Lt. Dave McDonald.
The man demanded cash, received the money, then fled.
Witnesses did not see a getaway vehicle. No one was injured in the robbery.
The robber is described as a white man in his mid-20s, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. During the robbery, he wore a baseball hat, a blue zip-up jacket with white horizontal stripes and blue jeans. He had blond or reddish facial hair.
Investigators were looking at whether the robber is connected to any other recent bank robberies in Pierce County.
Two other men are each suspected in a string of robberies in recent weeks. Timothy Nuss, 31, has been charged in two bank robberies in Lakewood and is a suspect in two others. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Local law enforcement agencies are trying to identify another man who’s believed to be responsible for at least four bank robberies in the past six weeks. Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers released pictures of the bank robber this week in hopes of identifying him.
