Fife police were searching for a man who robbed a bank branch Thursday afternoon and ran across Pacific Highway East to his getaway car.
The man went into the Bank of America, 5003 Pacific Highway E., just after 2 p.m. He presented a teller with a note that demanded cash and threatened to hurt someone if the demand was not met, said Fife police Lt. Tom Thompson.
The teller handed the robber cash, and he fled out the door.
Witnesses reported the robber ran across Pacific Highway East and got into a car parked near a fast-food restaurant. The car drove away.
The robber dropped a small amount of the stolen money, which was recovered by officers, Thompson said.
The bandit did not show a weapon during the robbery.
The robber was described as black, in his mid-30s and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore a blue shirt, tan painter-type pants and a black Detroit Tigers baseball cap.
