A Christian school is offering a Friday-only kindergarten program in the upcoming school year that could help families in public school programs.
The Peninsula School District earlier announced it was shortening its kindergarten program to four days a week starting next fall due to budget cuts. In response, Lighthouse Christian School will offer a kindergarten program on Fridays for students who attend other area schools.
“We are hoping to fill a need for local families who need a five-day option for their kindergarten students,” campus administrator Tim Hoy said in a news release. “We are excited to be able to supplement core education with additional instruction and enhancements.”
The Friday-only program will last a full day and include Bible, Spanish, math, phonics, poetry, reading and art instruction. State-certified Christian teachers will lead the program. Tuition will be calculated on an annual basis, averaging $35 per Friday session. Students must enroll for the entire program.
