Tacoma: Lincoln High grad in D.C. for Boys & Girls Club Youth of Year contest
Lincoln High School graduate Christney Kpodo is in Washington, D.C. today for judging in the Boys & Girls Club of America Youth of the Year competition.
Kpodo, 18, previously was honored as Youth of the Year for Washington state and for the Pacific region. She is a five-year member of the South End Tacoma branch of the Boys & Girls Club.
She is a freshman at Pacific Lutheran University.
The national winner will be announced at the Congressional Breakfast on Wednesday. He or she will be awarded a $15,000 college scholarship and installed by President Barack Obama during a ceremony in the Oval Office.
