Bracing for a levy failure, the North Thurston Public Schools plans to ask voters again in May to approve a maintenance and operation levy.
Board members will meet Saturday to discuss $16 to $17 million in cuts to extracurricular programs the levy would pay for, such as athletics, foreign languages, music and drama.
The levy was failing Wednesday with about 47 percent voting yes. The district also had a technology levy on the ballot to pay for computers and equipment, which was failing Wednesday by less than 1 percent. Results will be final March 5.
